«The Crotone stadium must be valorised. It will be a place for fans but also for archeology enthusiasts, because it is located in the beating heart of Ancient Kroton.” These are the words that superintendent Stefania Argenti said on the sidelines of a press conference held on Thursday morning, in relation to the request made by Mic to remove the covered grandstand. The stadium, expanded in 2016 when the team was promoted to Serie A, stands on an area subject to archaeological restrictions and for this reason the grandstand was built in a non-invasive and temporary manner.

Today, however, there are works under the financing of Antica Kroton (61.2 million euros to discover the ancient city) which will also be partly invested in investigating the Pitagora Park, just behind the stadium.

In recent days there have been a series of meetings between the Prefecture and the Municipality, but the problem is multiple. Not only the stands are being questioned but all the associated services, including the changing rooms and the press room. Elements which, if removed, would deprive the system of usability.
