William Avenuescoach of Cosenzaspoke at a press conference to present the challenge with the Reggiana. This is the first part of his statements:
WHAT IS MISSING TO RETURN TO WINNING – “In my opinion, in the last two games Cosenza lacked nothing to win the match. Then we didn’t win because of details, because of episodes that we didn’t bring to our side. But the team is ready to win.”
THE SWITCH TO 3-5-2 – “I’m not a slave to game systems, we can absolutely change, let’s train more things. It’s not a balance problem, this team has never had this problem. Which instead was dense in the goal area. What we have done in the last few games is bring a lot of people into the penalty area. This system allowed us to bring more players into the last twenty metres. But we have the right to vary. The results are not determined by tactics, but by attitude. The tactic allows you to play in a more or less spectacular way, but does not systematically lead you to victory. Whoever puts the most soul into it wins.”
THE REGGIANA – “We meet a team with a very specific identity. The things he does he does well, both offensively and defensively. He believes in what he does, and that’s what worries me the most. They’ve been working together for an entire season, they play by heart, they have very clear ideas.”
THE PHYSICAL CONDITION – “The first two games may have had an impact, even just due to a change in ideology. There was an adaptation phase, but it is improving and I am sure that for this championship finale the team will be very well.”
NUMBERS LOWER THAN A YEAR AGO – “I am convinced that the correct attitude is needed to achieve the objectives. I can speak for my journey, I can only judge these four matches. And I am truly convinced that the team has grown a lot. Otherwise you won’t recover against Feralpisalò, who had won in Cremona, Modena and Spezia. And you don’t react like that there against a strong team like Palermo. I’m hammering the team and it showed in the last two games. I believe that the team is starting to breathe this air, we will make the leap in quality when we remove the handbrake. After the match against Palermo I congratulated the boys, but I told them to remove the handbrake. The feeling is this, up to now we have had the desire, but without giving everything. And I want them to give everything from tomorrow evening.”
