He was not present in the courtroom. An “excellent” defendant was dealt with by the Asti court this morning: the former general director of the Asl ASL Flavio Boraso, accused of fraud against the ASL for two separate episodes.
The first concerns damage paid by the Asl Local Health Authority of Asti for over 4 thousand euros regarding the car used by the then director, a Jaguar e-Pace, while the second refers to a reimbursement of around 160 euros requested from the accounting office of the ‘ASL for an alleged business trip to Liguria, between Recco and Rapallo.
As regards the accident, Flavio Boraso had declared that he had suffered the damage while the car was parked, for service reasons, in the courtyard of the Casa della Salute in Canelli, indicating the exact day and time in which the work would have taken place part of unknown people. But that same day and at that same time Boraso, driving the Jaguar, was filmed by the video surveillance system as he returned to the courtyard of the Asl local health authority office, crashing the car against the gate and the wall, also causing damage to the photocell.
Regarding the reimbursement, however, the investigations revealed that it was a pleasure trip and not a business trip; on this charge, it must be said that the amount, despite having been requested, was never paid to the former director.
Boraso, defended by the lawyers Paparozzi and Scagliola, was not present in the courtroom this morning but in recent days he had already made a 6,000 euro transfer to the Asl Local Health Authority as compensation for damages. At the same time, asking for probation, an alternative form of extinguishing the crime through public utility works.
Judge Giannone could not already decide on this request because the documentation needs to be perfected, postponing it to the end of June.
Also in the courtroom was the lawyer Rattazzi, who was a civil party on behalf of the Asl Local Health Authority. Boraso’s defenders tried to ask that the ASL be excluded from the process, believing that, since the director general was appointed by the Region, the latter should at most be the one to appear but both the lawyer Rattazzi and the prosecutor Fiz opposed . First of all because in any case he managed the Asl Local Health Authority of Asti which was also the body that paid out the money mentioned in the indictment. This theory was accepted by Judge Giannone, ratifying the legitimacy of the ASL to form itself.
