Savona, Aurelia bis, GdF investigation: treasury damage of 70 million

The Yellow Flames of Savonaat the end of a complex investigation initiated by the prosecutor’s office of the Court of Auditors, they ascertained a treasury damage of 70 million euros in carrying out the works for the so-called Aurelia bis, the 5.2 km ring road which should have connected the Albisola Superiore motorway toll booth to the port hub of Savona.

According to what has been learned, Anas, the contracting authority, did not supervise the works carried out by the ATI in charge of the works which were interrupted several times. Furthermore, the Aurelia Bis section was found to be unsuitable for directly connecting the toll booth with the port hub of Savona.

The investigation activity carried out by the Savona Financial Police, under the guidance of Colonel Noceti, also made it possible to identify specific critical issues, according to the investigators attributable to Anas which had entrusted the work to a ATI. Critical issues that affected the entire course of the contract as well as quantifying the tax damage of over 70 million euros due to the failure to share the project for under-crossing the A/10 motorway with the manager of the motorway network, the failure to identify suitable sites for the delivery of materials coming from the excavation of the tunnels and for the inadequacy of the management and direction of the works.
