L’AQUILA – The fourth meeting of MasterClass 2024, a training program promoted and coordinated by the cultural associations Resident in Historic Centers “3:33” and Centro Studi La Meta, sponsored by the L’Aquila Police Headquarters, took place on Saturday 13 April. by the Municipality of L’Aquila, the Abruzzo Region, the Regional School Office for Abruzzo and the University of L’Aquila.

The event was divided into two distinct phases; the first step with a seminar entitled “New generation narcotic and psychotropic substances: Information, Prevention and Recognition Methods”, conducted by Dr. Moses Lamolinara, director of the chemical laboratory of ARTA Abruzzo and president of the Jujitsu Academy association. During the presentation, Dr. Lamolinara highlighted the risks linked to rape drugs, discussing their methods of administration in environments such as discos and bars, as well as the devastating impacts of alcohol abuse and use, even occasional, of new synthetic drugs such as Fentanyl. Originating from China and known as the ‘zombie drug’, Fentanyl has quickly become a serious social plague in the United States, with growing concerns also in Europe. The seminar’s interactive approach allowed students to explore in detail the legal consequences, as well as the short- and long-term effects of drugs on the human body.

The event concluded with a second session, of an operational nature, managed by Inspector Roberto Ciuffetelli, deputy head of the Anti-Drug Section of the State Police and by Dr. Pieremidio Bianchi, Chief Commissioner of the Anti-Crime Police Division who illustrated the investigative techniques used, unraveling doubts and answering the interesting questions of the young participants. The president of the 3:33 Association, Dr. Mirko Rocci, and the honorary president of the Centro Sudi La Meta, Dr. Claudia Pagliariccio, express gratitude towards the L’Aquila Police Headquarters in the persons of the Police Commissioner Dr. De Simone, of the current regent V. Deputy Quaestor Dr. Tomaciello for having opened the doors of the Police Headquarters to students. The two representatives of the associations also thank Dr. Pieremidio Bianchi for having actively interacted with the students by illustrating the structures and functions of the offices in particular of the 113 emergency operations room, highlighting the prevention role that the State Police plays every day in the area also through the adoption of technological tools such as YouPol, the State Police App developed to fight drug dealing, bullying, domestic violence and any form of violation of the law that citizens are required to report. Finally, applause is also extended to inspector Roberto Ciuffetelli, for having clarified the methods of acquisition, verification and confirmation of the information that the investigation activity requires.

At the end of the meeting, the organizers of the MasterClass program, Pagliariccio and Rocci, expressed great satisfaction with the success of the event, held for the second consecutive year at the Police Headquarters. «Once again, the event on drugs proved to be among the most popular of our program. Its high educational value, combined with an original approach and a language calibrated for our audience, in the emblematic place of legality, made the message extremely positive, resulting in the anonymous questionnaires distributed to young people at the end of the day. They concluded by adding: «Thanks to this knowledge, young people can rely on greater awareness and are therefore better prepared to recognize and protect themselves from growing security threats, an indispensable benefit in the current context».
