we aim to reopen for the summer

The important restoration works on the Pisciatello cycle path have begun in Cesenatico in recent days in the section damaged by the May flood, in particular that of via Campone in the hamlet of Sala. The planned investment is 150,000 euros financed by the government’s structural commissioner. The works – to take advantage of the best possible weather conditions – have begun in recent days and foresee the complete reopening of the route for summer 2024.

The cycle path

The overall cycle route project has a total of 8.3 kilometers to be added to the 6.7 kilometers already existing with the new road that connects Cesena to Cesenatico in a route a few kilometers from the center but surrounded by greenery and silence. A safe area for pedestrians, runners and bicycles. The project saw a total investment of 1 million euros: 400,000 euros of regional contributions and 600,000 euros allocated by the Municipal Administration. The route can also count on three cycle/pedestrian walkways laid in recent months, fundamental junctions to guarantee the safety of the route and its use, and on vegetation that has been reinforced with the planting of over 2000 shrubs among trees and hedges.

“With the arrival of spring, the restoration work on the cycle path began, an important moment for the whole of Cesenatico and also for the hamlet of Sala. It was not easy to keep a section of it closed immediately after inaugurating it but the flood events forced us to of all prudence and caution. The coming summer will be able to count on this sustainable mobility path surrounded by greenery”, the comment of the mayor Matteo Gozzoli.
