The Arezzo Consumer Movement believes that the Tuscany Region has not understood that immediate responses to commuter problems are needed. A position taken 24 hours after yesterday’s meeting on the Arezzo railway line, in which the mayors of Valdarno also took part. “Yesterday the meeting was held in the presence of the competent authorities in the matter, but the solutions proposed do not appear even remotely resolving the problems that have afflicted commuters for years – commented the Arezzo Consumer Movement – The Tuscany Region has not understood that it has the power -duty to prevent the right to mobility from disappearing by adopting timely solutions. The latter facilitates the exercise, and in some cases guarantees, of a further right, the right to work. In a globalized society – continued the association – it is unthinkable that workers have to leave three hours early to hope to arrive at work on time, as do students and all commuters. A transport department that is unable to enforce train timetables so that there is an efficient and punctual service is a department without strength”.
The Consumer Movement then asked itself what the mayors of Valdarno propose. “We hope that the usual points will not be included in the electoral campaign, among other unattainable ones, regarding the connection with Arezzo and Florence with a train every 10/15 minutes – concluded the association – The right to mobility in the Valdarno, and beyond , it is an optional, we will certainly not stop at these disappointing and not at all resolving proposals. In all this there is the risk that next July 1st there will be new increases in prices, caused by inflation. In a normal country all this is unacceptable.”
