The secret services are looking for new resources: a document has been published on the official website of the Italian Intelligence announcement for the search for various professional figures. Candidates are required to have IT and data analysis skills and also a strong sense of responsibility and attachment to state institutions, as well as proven security skills.

On the announcement we read that Italian Intelligence is looking for professionals with specific knowledge and skills in the following sectors: “artificial intelligence, for machine learning engineers, data scientists and big data engineers/architects; penetration testing and red teaming methodologies, cyber threat intelligence, reverse engineering, malware analysis and digital forensics; WMD threats, weapons, missiles and associated technologies, as well as dual use materials and procurement networks; algorithmic for cryptanalysis; photointerpretation of satellite images; behavioral sciences and profiling activities; archival and document digitization”.

It is also explained that the professional profiles of greatest attention at the moment in relation to sectors of intervention they are those of an analyst in the geopolitical field, an expert in the economic field, an expert in rare languages ​​and local dialects, an expert in HUMINT information research activities and a software developer.

After a curricular screening, i candidates they will be subjected to selective procedures which include verification of technical knowledge and skills, psycho-physical and attitudinal suitability and verification of reliability and safety requirements.

The announcement published on the official website of the Information System for the Security of the Italian Republic specifies that for the required professional figures, there is the possibility of submitting an application by midnight on 31 May 2024. Regardless of the announcement, it is always possible submit spontaneous applications through the online platform: these will be subjected to a structured selection process “pre-arranged to identify the resources most responsive to specific employment needs”.

The history of Italian Intelligence

The Information System for the Security of the Republic is a set of bodies and authorities that have the task of ensuring the information activities with the aim of safeguarding the Italian Republic from dangers and threats coming from both inside and outside.

One was launched in 2007 reform of the Italian Intelligence which drastically changed the structure of the information and security services, dividing the competences no longer between structures that could roughly be distinguished into civil and military, but rather according to territorial spheres of competence.

All secret service bodies report directly or indirectly to the President of the Council of Ministers. The Intelligence includes: the Interministerial Committee for the Security of the Republic, the Department of Information for Security, the External Information and Security Agency and the Internal Information and Security Agency.

The new joint Intelligence headquarters was inaugurated in May 2019: it is located in the Postal Savings Bank building in Piazza Dante in Rome, recently placed first in the ranking of the best cities to visit on foot. The headquarters houses the top offices of the Dis, the agencies and some of the operational ones.
