BARI – New shock in Michele Emiliano’s majority in the Puglia Region: Giuseppe Tupputi, Con group leader, leaves the group in the Regional Council. Two councilors also belong to the same group: Economic Development, Alessandro Delli Noci; and Tourism, Gianfranco Lopane. The announcement had already been made in recent days.

«Politics means always saying we and never me – writes Tupputi in a note – I start from this cornerstone to explain the reasons that pushed me to leave the Con movement, declaring myself officially independent from today». «Con, in my opinion – he continues – has lost its identity, its prerogatives which convinced me to believe in this new challenge on the occasion of the 2020 regional elections. The political line traced ‘ab originè’ is today barely mentioned and does not offer future prospects as the second most supported political force of the majority deserves”. “No capacity for self-determination or political-administrative autonomy – he continues – has been achieved by the movement which, on the contrary, too often appears to be a simple instrument in the hands of others”.

Tupputi maintains that «the attempt at reconciliation appeared irretrievable when I did not perceive shared intent in the request for the elimination of the Regional Council and of all the top roles of the participating agencies in the region, to give a strong signal after the latest judicial events that have affected the heart of Apulian politics.”
