“I Picciotti di Matarò” from Marsala fly to the Folklore Festival in Austria

The folk group “I Picciotti di Matarò” from the city of Marsala, directed by Massimo Gabriele, was invited to represent Italy at the 30th International Folklore Global Festival 2024 in Austria, which will take place from 13 to 18 August 2024. The Festival is one of the most important events and is one of the oldest festivals classified among the largest of its kind in the whole of Austria which this year celebrates 30 years since its birth in beautiful villages of Stainz, st. Johann ob Hohenburg, Stiwoll and Graz, where folk dance groups from different countries of the world will meet for a cultural exchange in Styria.

“I Picciotti di Matarò”, composed of 35 elements including dancers, choristers and musicians, will bring a breath of fun with traditional Sicilian songs, tarantellas and choreographies typical of our folklore. In the past, the group has already participated in various international festivals in Serbia, Germany, France, Lithuania, the Canary Islands, Portugal, Holland, Poland, the Czech Republic and Madeira and is preparing to organize the 11th edition of “Saperi e Sapori di Matarocco Fest ” from 2nd to 4th August next in Marsala.
