Alexander the Great, current President of the Sanremo City Council, will stand again in the next administrative elections together with Adriana Cutellè. With him we took stock of his 10 years of activity in the Administration led by Alberto Biancheri.

“I think it is important to make known the numbers of the Council, the political, administrative and control body of the city. In fact, in the last 5 years the assembly has met 65 times with around 450 resolutions brought to approval, without forgetting the discussion of motions, questions and agendas presented. An important work by the majority and opposition councilors in addition to the preliminary study of the council commissions, by the conference of group leaders and by the various groups. At the end of the month we will meet again with the 2023 final balance, which will bring an administration surplus of 10 million euros to be spent in the coming months. It has been an important experience in these 10 years, which has allowed me to deepen my knowledge of the administrative machine”.

And speaking of the City Council, work is underway to technologically improve the room: “With the new system we will have certain times, interventions controlled by the Prime Minister’s office and, above all, there will be a simplified process for the approval of resolutions and for the consultation of documents by the councillors. The works will allow Councils to be managed in mixed form or via videoconference. This is a very important step for the functionality of future meetings.”

In addition to the presidency of the Council, you have worked a lot for security. How it can improve in the coming years: “It was an important commitment carried out by our Administration, which guaranteed the installation of 477 high definition cameras, connected with the police. An important investment that can be expanded in the hamlets and where episodes of petty crime are still present. In addition to this, we have tried to maintain the Municipal Police staff, with seasonal hiring. Another important topic is the approval of the regulation for video surveillance shared by the public and private sector. That is, where the municipality’s cameras do not reach, private ones will be able to do so.”
