Andrea, 14 years ago – it was February 24, 2010 – collapsed to the ground on the synthetic pitch of the Polisportivo. Giuseppe, in that six-a-side football, didn’t waste a moment. The defibrillator of the sports facility showed problems, and the then local police officer but there as a player, called the Command who arrived on site within five minutes with the Dae.

THE STORY OF COMMISSIONER ADDABBO

“I was the one who started the volley, in the meantime the ambulance for the hospital had arrived,” recalls Addabbo. Andrea Arsaci, now a private security guard, remembers nothing of that evening.

But he wants to mention all the names of those who rescued him from death: Giuseppe Addabbo (now retired major commissioner), Lucia Muselli and Giordano Argentieri, both from the local police, Matteo Rampoldi, also from the local police but there to play with Addabbo, and the firefighter Luigi Gazzola.

“When I saw him alive the next morning on the hospital bed, my heart opened,” says Addabbo. Without so much strength and resourcefulness on the part of that handful of people Andrea would not be here to tell his story.

And, he promises, on May 5th he will be running his kilometer in the Progetto Vita relay, which yesterday with the president, the head of Cardiology Daniela Aschieri, in the spectacular setting of the Prefecture, launched the double event linked to the Placentia Marathon.
