Florence, 1362 – Pisa, 17 April 1420

Roman Martyrology: In Pisa, Blessed Chiara Gambacorti, who, still young, widowed of her husband, at the exhortation of Saint Catherine of Siena, founded the first strictly observant Dominican monastery here and, having pardoned the murderers of her father and her brothers, governed her sisters with prudence and charity.
