ANCONA In March, inflation rose slightly, reaching 1.2% (one decimal point more than the preliminary estimate) compared to +0.8% in the previous month. But the Marche region remains among the regions where the increase in the cost of living is felt less, with a monthly variation in the price index of 0.9%, still higher than in February (0.6%). The regional capital is doing even better, which once again, with a price index of +0.2%, is on the podium of the cities with the lowest inflation.

Energy goods

«The slight acceleration in prices – explains Istat in its report on consumer prices for March – reflects the easing of the decline on a trend basis in the prices of energy goods (-10.8% from -17.3% in February) , both for the regulated and non-regulated component. Support for inflation is also due to the acceleration in the prices of transport-related services (+4.5% from +3.8%). On the other hand, the prices of unprocessed food products also showed a slowdown in March (+2.6% from +4.4%). The annual dynamics of “shopping cart” prices slowed down (+2.6%), while underlying inflation stood at +2.3% (stable compared to the previous month)”.

With March inflation at 0.9%, the Marche region is the seventh region in terms of price containment and keeps the price increase well below the average of the Central regions (+1.3%). In the capitals of autonomous regions and provinces and in non-capital municipalities with more than 150 thousand inhabitants, the highest inflation is in Naples and Rimini (both at +2.5%), while in Campobasso there is a negative trend change (-0, 1%) and in Aosta nothing, while Ancona is third in terms of ability to control prices, with inflation in March at 0.2%.

The homes

In March in the Doric capital, as announced by the Municipality’s Statistics office, the consumer price index remained unchanged, while the annual trend rate grew from the negative value of February (-0.2%) to +0, 2%. Among the items decreasing in March in Ancona, those relating to expenses for housing, water, energy and fuel (-0.8%), tobacco and alcoholic beverages (-0.4%), recreation, entertainment and culture (-0 .3%), to food products and non-alcoholic drinks (-0.2%). Prices linked to transport chapters (+0.7%), accommodation and catering services (+0.2%) are rising. For energy expenses, noteworthy is the significant drop in prices for electricity (-2.8%) and gas (-2.7%) in Ancona, while the price of water supply goes against the trend (+5.8%). ).

The Consumers Union

Returning to a national scale, an analysis by the Consumers Union points out that for a couple with two children, inflation at +1.2% means, despite the savings on housing and electricity equal to 318 euros, an increase in the cost of life of 273 euros on an annual basis, of which 233 euros are used to cover the 2.9% increase in food and drink prices. For a couple with a child, the additional annual expense is 226 euros, of which 211 euros more are needed for eating and drinking. For an average family it is 168 euros for food and non-alcoholic drinks.
