«We lose the most valid administrative director. Not a good sign for us”

FERMO – «The regional council has appointed Dr Alberto Carelli, former administrative director of the Ast of Fermo, as new general director of the Territorial Health Authority of Pesaro and Urbino, with the role starting next May 1st. Obviously a good job by Alberto Carelli.” According to the member of the regency committee of the CISL Fp Marche Giuseppe Donati, “the news had been in the air for a few days”. «It is certainly a deserved award for him with the recognition of the experience and professionalism gained in many years of service in public health but at the same time the renunciation or rather the deprivation of a usual reference point which has become such in these months of collaboration with the company health of Fermo – says Donati -. «We want to think – continues Donati – that it was an underestimation of the impact of this choice on the Fermo area». According to the trade unionist, what happened demonstrates the “weakness of our political representation”. If the roles were reversed (Pesaro with Fermo) «there would not have been the same result. This reinforces the presumption that the citizens of the Marche region do not all count in the same way or that there is a worrying short-sightedness on the overall stability – and not of someone compared to someone else – of the regional healthcare system. Now we will start again or continue… everyone is free to think as they wish but this time too… we have like Fermo citizens, professionals, operators, lost yet another battle and not because the current administrative director of Ast Fermo is irreplaceable or indispensable but for yet another message that is sent by politics to an area in great difficulty like the Fermo area.” Regional councilor Filippo Saltamartini reassures Fermo regarding the handover and the continuity of commitment and attention: «I spoke with Carelli. The work carried out will not be wasted and he will provide all the support and consultancy necessary for Fermo to carry forward the projects undertaken.”
