Four symphonic and as many chamber concerts, a round table and a Community concert hosted in various places in Parma constitute the new edition of the Toscanini Festival scheduled from 4 June to 11 July and dedicated to the famous conductor, the composers of his era and the authors who he loved to conduct, starting with Beethoven and Wagner. The first four concerts are mirrored and are linked to two by the same soloist performing a symphonic and a chamber music event.

In the first, the Korean pianist Jae Hong Park, winner of the 2021 Busoni Competition, will perform as a soloist on June 4th (Skrjabin and Rachmaninov) and with the Filarmonica Toscanini led by Vitali Alekseenok on June 6th (Concert No. 2 by Saint-Saëns and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7). The soloist of the next two events featuring music by Busoni and Respighi will be violinist Francesca Dego who will play accompanied by pianist Francesca Leonardi on 12 June, while on 14 June she will be directed by Francesco Cilluffo in an evening which includes the Botticellian Triptych and the Gli suite. birds by Ottorino Respighi.

The festival program then includes, on 21 June, on the occasion of the Music Festival, a program directed by Elena Casella with Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. After two other chamber concerts, the final event on July 11th in Piazza Duomo with an all-Wagnerian program directed by Kent Nagano with the participation of the contralto Gerhild Romberger: the program includes the Wesendonck-Lieder, and pieces from Tannhäuser, Parsifal, Tristan und Isolde, Die Walküre.
