Full and unconditional support for “No Committee, to the Cisterna Valmontone link road”. With citizens, associations and political forces, the Committee Assembly took place on Friday 12 April in Casale Malatesta to reiterate opposition to a useless, environmentally harmful and anti-economic work. An intervention in the name of a largely outdated and anachronistic past as has emerged, for years now, through the voice of the same banks called to finance the work in project financing. Yep, the banks themselves, who, starting from the analysis of traffic flows, already in the early 2000s, judged the work to be unprofitable and therefore unfinanceable. Since then, a broad transversal front of political forces has also intended to proceed with its implementation by placing the burdens entirely on the public budget. Yet another doubly useless work, because in addition to the environmental damage, it takes away useful resources to support the ecological transition process that we desperately need. And then, yet another example of greenwashing, with laughable references to technological solutions that only aim to give a false image in terms of environmental impact, with the aim of diverting the attention of public opinion, according to a conscious and controlled process of communication. An unjustified and uneconomical consumption of land, devastating for the territory, to the sole advantage of the cement producers and the industrial and commercial center of the upper Sacco valley which would have a direct road connection with the Pontine area, taking away the economy, resources and quality of life in Velletri, Lariano, Cori and Artena. Green Europe Velletri has always been against this work, costing 1 billion euros, which does not resolve the issue of mobility in our quadrant, both for people and goods. The alternative is clear: to strengthen, with those resources, rail transport by transforming, for example, the Rome Velletri regional line into a light metro, investing in modernization, both in terms of safety and technology and on the current road layouts provincial in the municipalities concerned.
