During excavations conducted in the industrial area of ​​Petrignano, between Colussi and Verniciatura Eugeni, Umbra Acque discovered a war device dating back to the Second World War. The alarm was launched on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 16, 2024, around 3pm.

The agents of the Assisi police station intervened at the site of the discovery, following the deputy commissioner Roberto Roscioli, the carabinieri of Santa Maria degli Angeli, led by captain Vittorio Iervolino of the command company of Assisi and the weapon’s bomb squad. The latter will take care of defusing the bomb, probably tomorrow, with the support of the Military Engineers specialists. The deputy mayor of the Municipality of Assisi was also on site.

As a precautionary measure, four families were removed from their homes homes, as well as the workers of Verniciatura Eugeni. The safety of people is a priority and all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure their safety during the defusing operation.

The war device represents a potential risk and requires expert intervention to ensure its safe removal. The police and bomb squad are working to resolve the situation in the safest way possible, minimizing the risk to the local community.
