I swim. Cus Ferrara shines in the “criteria” and in the regional finals for rookie teams

A week full of sporting events for the Cus Ferrara swimming athletes, called to compete on multiple fronts. Riccione hosted the swimming “criteria” where the 30 strongest athletes in Italy for each year competed in a 25 meter pool and the Cus was represented by Anastasia Pasti and Emanuele Moscato.

Anastasia Pasti placed eleventh in the 50 butterfly, twelfth in the 200 dolphin and entered – with her personal best in the 100 butterfly – into the national top 10, finishing 8th. Beautiful race where Anastasia, with determination and courage, fights for the medal until the last meters with 8 girls enclosed within 6 tenths of a second, rediscovering that confidence that she struggled to achieve this season. Good placings for her also in the 50 and 100 backstroke.

Excellent performance by Emanuele Moscato in the 50m backstroke where he came close to the podium, finishing fifth in Italy, confirming the leap in quality highlighted this season; a little less well in the 100 backstroke where he placed twenty-first, significantly worsening his personal record. For him a placing also in the 50m breaststroke.

The Beginners team final took place in Carpi on Sunday where the top 8 teams in the region had access based on the scores obtained in the regional finals in March. In this race the athletes had to cover the entire race program consisting of all the 100 and 200 of each style, the two mixed and freestyle relays and the 200 mx.

The A Cussine Rookies qualified for the event with a close 5th place, but with a huge gap from the 3rd place. The performance was such that surprisingly they fought for the podium until the last race, the mixed relay where two positions of difference unfortunately caused the Cussine to slip to fourth place, just 6 points away from the bronze medal. Still an excellent placement.

The creators of this small undertaking were Alice Canella who, greatly improving her personal skills, placed fourth in the 100 backstroke and third in the 200 backstroke. Serena Capobianco improved further after the regional podium in the 200 butterfly, finishing third; third place also for Lucrezia Rossi in the 100 butterfly and fifth place for her in the 200 medley. Margherita Astolfi also improved her personal best in the 100 and 200 freestyle, coming fourth in both races; Breaststroker Caterina Meloncelli also did well, improving in the 100m, finishing 6th. For her also a 7th place in the 200. Third was the 4×50 freestyle relay with Meloncelli, Canella, Capobianco, Rossi who then came sixth in the 4×50 medley.
Technical director Gianluca Orlandi is satisfied with the results and underlines the excellent work done by the category coach Giada Martinelli who contributed to this beautiful group performance.
