SELVAZZANO – Two shepherdsto shovel blowsthey have killed six puppies Of Maremma shepherd Abruzzo. One of them, the leader, Denis Paoli 38 years old from Trentoit has already been in an abbreviated procedure condemned to 5 months for animal cruelty. Through his lawyer he then appealed to the Court of Appeal. His subordinate instead, the Romanian Micea Iulian Secanis still under trial.
Puppies killed
The episode dates back to April 11, 2017. A mother and her daughter, riding their bicycles, were riding along the long left bank of the Bacchiglione river. When, for a short break, they stopped to look at a flock of sheep. The Romanian shepherd and a female Maremma from Abruzzo, in obvious difficulty because she had just given birth, are grooming them. The shepherd then approached the two women and said that he had drowned 9 puppy dogs the night before. Mother and daughter returned home in shock. The wife reported to her husband what had happened during the bike ride. So the family decided to present complaint to the municipal police of western Padua and investigations began coordinated by the public prosecutor Benedetto Roberti.
Buried dogs
The next day the investigators, together with a veterinarian, reached the point along the embankment where the sheep had been grazing 24 hours earlier. But the flock, with the Romanian shepherd, was found a few hundred meters further away. The officers began to press the citizen with a series of questions about where the puppies had ended up. The same questions were asked of Paoli. At the end, the point where the six Maremma people had been buried was indicated. When they were dug up, three still showed signs of life: they were immediately rescued but died a few hours later.
Animal abuse
Denis Paoli, already convicted of animal cruelty, had defended himself before the investigators by swearing that he went to Rabbi, a municipality in the province of Trento where he lives, at 3pm on Saturday and that he remained there for the whole of Sunday, the day the animals were killed. you are Maremma. But the story of “Billi”, as he calls himself on Facebook where his profile is dedicated to transhumance, was not deemed credible by the Prosecutor’s Office. Reason, he was able to indicate precisely, without asking his subordinate for help, where the six puppies had been buried.
