The CEO ofInter Alexander Antonello spoke on the sidelines of the Merger & Acquisition Summit organized by Sun 24 Hours. Here are his words on the stadium issue taken from Football and Finance.

It’s a long discussion, both for us and for Milan – he said – we have lived these five years for the authorization and there is and has been a bit of disappointment, we still don’t see the final outcome. We are organized with alternative plans that we are carrying forward. The closeness between the world of football and finance is already a fact. I have some data: in the period 2019/2023 in Europe in the top 5 leagues 128 operations were carried out with foreign investors, 60% with foreign ownership. Mainly almost 50% are of American origin. Private equity investments make up 55% of these”.

I think the prospects for Italian football are excellent, there is a need for reforms based on strategic assets for the creation of value. We discuss formats in the League, we need to invest in the youth sectors, women’s football, marketing and the television product. Infrastructure is the stage where the product is then transmitted around the world”.

Three clubs made European cup finals last year. The world of Italian football is there in terms of performance, we will still have a semi-finalist in the Europa League and perhaps in the Conference, these results are encouraging. The Italian football system still suffers from several problems that need to be solved, I have infrastructure in mind. These issues must be addressed, Italian football must not delude itself about sporting results, basic solidity is needed to guarantee future growth and therefore there is organisation.”
