Liceo Scientifico Galilei of Alessandria: experiences in Germany

ALEXANDRIA – During this school year the Galilei Scientific High School in Alessandria has definitively opened the doors to Europe, creating different international mobility experiences. Getting out of your comfort zone, learning about different cultures, discovering new ways of thinking, creating lasting international relationships and improving your language skills are among the main objectives that an Erasmus experience of this kind allows you to achieve while having fun. The Erasmus+ project is transforming the Galilei high school into an even more cutting-edge school, in the way of thinking and planning teaching and looking outside its own patterns, generating a general enriching effect on the student population and consequently, also on the territory.

Thanks to the European funds obtained with the Erasmus+ accreditation, from 10 to 15 March some students of classes 4B and 4C participated in the school life of the Gymnasium Cato Bontjes von Beek in Achim, Germany. The teacher accompanied them Cristina Oddone, English language teacher and Erasmus+ representative of the high school and the teacher Chiara Angeleri, physics and mathematics teacher. The experience was very interesting from an educational and training perspective, but also from a personal perspective. Galilei’s Erasmus+ project is very ambitious and is making progress important goalswhich will have a positive impact on the entire high school in terms of enhancing skills, opening up to the outside world and promoting well-being at school.

The hospitality received in March, in fact, was reciprocated with the welcome of the students of the Achim Gymnasium. In the week that has just ended, 12 German students and 2 teachers animated the school life of the high school, discussing and exploring topics relating to active citizenship, the European Union and the upcoming European elections with the Italian students. The activities, managed and coordinated by Professor Cristina Oddone, have allowed this further step forward towards the internationalization of the Institute, with the collaboration of the professors Arianna Coviello, Donatella Mutti and Eliana Buggea.

The training courses, which were the primary objective of the activities, resulted in: the creation of multimedia products, created in groups and shared on the eTwinning platform. The works, relating to the role and impact that young people can have in the future organization of the European Parliament, were the result of a synergy of shared forces, which made a training path unified from a European perspective. No less important was also the opportunity to profitable exchange not only of didactic-educational methods, but also of traditions and customs of the two countries involved.
