“Let’s build together a Europe of peace, work and social justice”. It is the slogan chosen by CGIL, CISL, UIL to celebrate May Day again this year. Friuli Venezia Giulia, a border land, will host the event, dedicated to Europe, which will take place, starting from 10 am, in Piazza della Repubblica in Monfalcone, in the province of Gorizia.
After the interventions of the delegates of the three Organizations, the general secretaries, Maurizio Landini, Luigi Sbarra and PierPaolo Bombardieri, will conclude the rallies, speaking from the stage from 12 to 13. As per tradition, the Concert will take place in the afternoon and, for the first time , will not be able to take place in Piazza San Giovanni (due to the works scheduled for the Jubilee) and will be moved to the Circus Maximus.
Also in the province of Avellino, the CGIL will be in Solofra to celebrate the 1st of May at 09.30 am with a concentration in Piazza San Michele, procession and arrival in Piazza Umberto I where the rally with speeches will take place. With greetings from the Mayor of Solofra Nicola Moretti, associations, delegates while the conclusions will be entrusted to the General Secretary of the CGIL Avellino Franco Fiordellisi.
«The occasion of May Day 2024 in Solofra, after 20 years, is also useful to urge the longed-for reopening of the Trade Union Social Center after 3 years from its closure for renovation, an asset of all which symbolically must be reacquired for the enjoyment of all citizens, of workers, pensioners, young people, a place to create sociality and enjoy rights, as was the idea of CGIL CISL UIL when they thought of them and built them after the 1980 earthquake.
And so what better occasion for the opening on May 1st with the slogan “Let’s build together a Europe of peace, work and social justice” which pushes us to reflect on the future of Europe, and we want, the South, Irpinia, Solofra with its historic industrial district put them at the center of the ideas of sustainable development, decent work and future prospects for young people. Rearticulating the slogan into “Peace, Stable Work, Social Justice, Sustainable Development, Constitution to be applied to be Europe. Furthermore, it will be an opportunity to launch the initiatives that we are already carrying out with the associations that are part of “Constitution la Via Maestra” on May 25th in Naples, a national demonstration to protect it, but also with the collection of signatures of the four questions to restore dignity and stability in subordinate work!
And the collection of signatures for the four repealing referendums, questions to reduce precariousness and guarantee greater security in procurement. four proposals to dismantle some of the laws that have led to a wild world of work, full of precariousness and too unbalanced in favor of businesses”.
