Standout Syracuse Orange women’s basketball guard Dyaisha Fair was selected No. 16 overall by the Las Vegas Aces in the 2024 WNBA Draft, becoming the sixth player in program history to be drafted.

Through five collegiate seasons across Buffalo and Syracuse, Fair transformed into one of the most proficient scorers in the NCAAW but notably took her game to a completely new level this past season, boosting her stock enough to be selected in the middle of the second round in this year’s WNBA draft.

She also became the first Syracuse player to be drafted since Brittney Sykes and Alexis Peterson were each selected in 2017.

Fair will be joining a Las Vegas team that has won consecutive WNBA championships under head coach Becky Hammon, a former five-foot-six guard and six-time WNBA all-star who has coached the Aces since the 2022-23 season.

Despite ending up in some mock draft conversations toward the end of last year, Fair shined across the 2023-24 season en route to securing a third team All-America nod, an All-ACC first team selection and the third-most all-time career points scoring in Division I women’s basketball.

Fair will look to bring some guard depth and scoring punch for the Aces, who finished 34-6 overall last year. Las Vegas also selected Iowa’s Kate Martin in the second round and the Aces do have a need for players with smaller contracts to fill out their roster. This could work out to Fair’s advantage as she looks to launch her pro career.

The WNBA regular season begins on May 14th. The full WNBA schedule is available here.

We wish Dyaisha the best of luck as she looks to continue her playing career in the WNBA.
