Tennis Club Faenza, in the women’s Serie B2 we start with the objective of survival

The first women’s team of the Tennis Club Faenza is preparing, after the repechage, to face the national Serie B2 championship, which will begin on Sunday 28 April. The Manfreda team is made up of Alessia Ercolino 2.6, Sandy Mamini 2.8, Aurora Fabbri 2.8, Clara Sansoni 2.8 and Veronica Valgimigli 3.1. The group is necessarily orphaned by Chiara Arcangeli, who underwent surgery on the cruciate ligament and meniscus of her right knee last December 20th and is currently undergoing rehabilitation, but cannot be recovered in time (she should return to the field at the end of the summer). To the confirmed Ercolino, Valgimigli and Mamini, the young promise Aurora Fabbri and the Forlivese Clara Sansoni, in her first year in the Manfredo club, have been added.

«The repechage took away the bitter taste in our mouths with which we ended last season (relegation to the play-off double of the last playout match, ed.) – says Veronica Valgimigli – This year’s objective remains that of aim for salvation, given the high level of the teams. We will certainly give our best, as we always have.”

Alessia Ercolino adds: «This year too will be a complicated championship, even more so due to the absence of Arcangeli, who has been a cornerstone of the team for years. However, we have two very good young people in the team like Sandy and Aurora, together with Clara.”

This is the calendar of the first phase for the Faenza area. Sunday 28 April, 10am: Tennis Club Faenza – Tc Finale Ligure (Sv). Sunday 5 May, 10am: Tc Santa Margherita Ligure (Ge) – Tennis Club Faenza. Sunday 19 May, 10am: Tennis Club Faenza – Reggio Emilia coach. Sunday 26 May, 10am: Virtus Tennis Bologna – Tennis Club Faenza. Sunday 2 June, 10am: Tennis Club Faenza – Tc President Montechiarugolo (Pr). Sunday 9 June, 10am: Casalboni Santarcangelo (Rn) – Tennis Club Faenza.

The first place in the group will be admitted to Serie B1; the second will play in the promotion playoffs; the third will retain the right to participate in Serie B2 in 2025; the fourth and fifth will play the salvation playoffs; the sixth and seventh will be relegated directly.
