PSB EXCLUSIVE – Maini (Parlandodisport.it): “Never seen coaches in Modena challenged like Bianco. Bisoli right choice”

Gian Palo Maini is a journalist linked to Modena and the world of sport in general. Today he is director of the newspaper parlandisport.italso working as head of the press office of Modena Volleyball and of theACI Modena. Maini spoke to the microphones of our portal to talk about the arrival of Bisoli and the objectives of Emilians at this point in the season.

Modena sacked Bianco and called Bisoli. What were his feelings? Did the square expect it?

“The decision was made by the company, which was not influenced by the mood of the square. In many years, however, I had never seen a direct complaint against a coach like the one seen in the last home match against Catanzaro. The protest had already started a few days earlier. The curve and a good part of the fans were clamoring for a change of coach, motivated by the fact that the results in the second round had been disappointing and dangerous. Today Modena is four points away from the playout zone.”

Modena’s last victory dates back to the 3-0 against Parma on 27 January. What hasn’t worked in recent months?

“Modena changed something in the January transfer window, then the team lost confidence and began to be a bit afraid of not being up to the task. From there, as always, the negative results accumulated. The team then went into difficulty. Victory had been missing for so long that it became difficult to take the field. There are various factors, both technical but also psychological. The two things are combined.”

Bisoli has had varied experiences in his career, including the playouts with Cosenza two years ago and the unexpected playoffs with Südtirol last season. Modena is floating halfway: is it worth believing? Can the shock come with Bisoli (who has signed a two-year contract)?

“Bisoli’s choice surprised me, because the rumors concerned Longo. At this moment he is the right man, also because Modena must save themselves. There is no one in Modena who looks at the teams above, but only at those behind them to stay away from the pursuers. In Serie B the most dangerous thing is to end up in the playout brawl when you’ve never been there all year. The two-year contract in Bisoli also gives him a lot of strength, the players know that he will be the coach for next year too. The club wanted to give even more strength to the coach with the contract valid until June 2025.”

In January Modena exchanged Bonfanti for Gliozzi from Pisa. Seven years of difference between the two and a different performance: how has the environment received the arrival and impact of the new attacker?

“There were those who turned up their noses, we were talking about a player like Gliozzi and Bonfanti, who is more promising. Between the two, Bonfanti did better in Pisa than Gliozzi in Modena. We don’t talk about it so much because Bonfanti was given so many chances in Modena to become the point of reference. At a certain point we resigned ourselves to the fact that he would never “explode”, but we really wish him the best. The opportunities were given to him, then he didn’t take advantage of them.”

In the next round Ascoli-Modena will be played: can we talk about a survival clash?

“Modena must start again on Saturday, after a change of coach, teams often have a surge of pride and put their fear aside. Modena must get back up immediately.”.
