Last week, unknown persons committed an act of vandalism against don the Roeno agricultural company, located in Belluno Veronese, in the municipality of Brentino Belluno. The vandals cut to the base a few rows of vines and they left a message on a banner with the writing “Thank those who killed the bears.”

The reference is addressed to the president of Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti. The owners of the farm are in fact direct cousins of the governor of Trentino.

Subsequently, four animal rights associations (Io Non Ho Paura del Lupo APS, Association for the WWF Trentino ODV, LIPU – Trento section, LAV of Trentino) they demonstrated solidarity to the Fugatti family, whose vines were damaged.

“The environmentalist associations condemn the acts of damage suffered by people close to Maurizio Fugatti. Coexistence must be built with other methods, first of all dialogue, a tool that the undersigned associations have always adopted. Threats and prevarications, from whatever side they come from, are unacceptable: the direction in which to go to produce information and prevention starts and grows only in a climate of peaceful confrontation.” we read in one of their notes.

And while investigations into the damage to the screws are ongoing, Centopercento animalisti does not explicitly condemn the act, but “returns to the attack” with a very direct note: “Hunters, politicians, fill their mouths with expressions such as “vandalism, condemnation, violent acts” for the vines cut in a vineyard owned by Fugatti’s relatives. Evidently, for them, more important than the lives destroyed by hunters, including those of the Bears killed or imprisoned by order of the Province of Trento.

Including those poisoned or killed by poachers. As if the “poachers” were nothing more than hunters, who (also) act outside the already too permissive rules on hunting, and it is not difficult to understand who the instigators are. Actions such as cutting vines are a consequence of the exasperation of those who love animals and are tired of seeing them persecuted. Everyone can give whatever judgment they believe. We reserve our condemnation and deprecation for the politics of the Autonomous Province of Trento and the Trentino Alto Adige Region, and for the campaign of hatred they are carrying out against Free Animals.”
