CAORLE – Found dying outside his home in Caorle, he passed away a few minutes later at just 29 years old. The tragedy occurred the other evening in the hospital in Portogruaro, where Nicolas Ridolfo, originally from San Stino di Livenza, but resident in Caorle for a while, arrived in desperate conditions. It was the boy’s father himself who raised the alarm around 10pm when he, returning from San Donà di Piave, stopped his car outside the house, in via Giovanni da Pordenone in Caorle. The man had left his son in the car and entered the house. After a few minutes, not seeing him go up, he retraced his steps. He found Nicolas already unconscious: he immediately raised the alarm to 118, who sent health workers from the local First Aid Point to the scene. When paramedics arrived, the 29-year-old was already in cardiac arrest.

THE RESCUERS

A second ambulance from Jesolo arrived on site shortly after, with a doctor who ordered the boy’s immediate transfer to Portogruaro hospital, after intubating him. Upon his arrival at San Tommaso dei Battuti, unfortunately, there was nothing left for Nicolas to do: the young man, who turned 29 last March 25, died after a few moments. 112 was immediately alerted and the police were sent to hospital. The Carabinieri investigators have informed the Pordenone Prosecutor’s Office: the public prosecutor on duty is evaluating whether the Carabinieri’s investigations are sufficient or whether further investigations are necessary, possibly arranging for an autopsy.

THE INVESTIGATIONS

The soldiers directed by Marshal Francesco Lambiase collected the testimony of Nicolas’ father, to reconstruct what exactly happened on Sunday evening. Father and son went together to San Donà on Sunday afternoon, then decided to return home to Caorle, where the family recently moved after having lived for a long time in La Salute di Livenza. Nicolas has always worked in the catering field, both in the mountains and at the seaside, as an assistant chef and kitchen service worker: he lived permanently in Caorle in his parents’ home. After studying at the “Don Bosco” professional institute in San Donà, he dedicated himself to work. In the past he had had some problems related to drug use. Now investigators are working to ascertain the cause of his death. The body was transferred to the morgue in Portogruaro at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
