The outdoor track athletics season opened in Modena on 25 April with the 45th Liberation Trophy and 24 athletes from Faenza competing. On Saturday in San Marino at the Titano meeting other races for our athletes in the absolute sector, while on Sunday morning in Forlì the provincial boys/cadet championships were held (province of Ravenna + Forlì-Cesena).
In Modena, student Zoe Fiorentini immediately started very well, running the 400m in 55″90, climbing to the second step of the podium and above all scoring her personal best and the best Italian U18 performance of the season. In the 100hs Sofia Tarozzi and Giorgia Battilani did well, running in 15″23 and 15″36 respectively. For Sofia this is also the minimum to participate in the Italian category championships. Also worth mentioning is the fourth place of master Fiorenza Pierli in the 1500m, finishing in 4’44”01.
27 athletes and 7 4x100m relay teams were present in San Marino. Zoe Fiorentini did very well again in the 100m with a time of 12″48, also worth mentioning was the debut of Fabio Finocchiaro with 11″77, Sofia Tarozzi’s 13″23, Giorgia Battilani’s 13″38 and 13th. ″41 by Sarah Bagnaresi.
In the Long Jump, third place went to Arianna Marocchi with 5.39 and in the finale the icing on the cake was thanks to the success of the student relay team (Giorgia Battilani, Matilde Argnani, Bagnaresi Sarah and Zoe Fiorentini) who won the overall test in 51″10.
The 28th provincial championships in the younger, boys and cadet categories were held in Forlì on Sunday. Lots of participation: Maia Minardi won in the cadet discus throw exceeding 26m, Briseide Ghetti (girls category) won the shot put competition with 6.75m, cadet Happyness Chukwueloka came joint second in the 300m with 44″7 .
Anna Paganelli graduated, in the girls category, provincial champion in the long jump with a measurement of 4.32 m, while among the boys Matteo Valenti won the high jump with 1.10 m.
Also worth mentioning is the master Gloria Venturelli who won the 10km road race in Lerici on Sunday, after her victory at the Vivicitta in Reggio Emilia on 14 April.
