Abruzzo enters the ranking of Italians’ favorite regions for outdoor holidays, placing sixth after destinations that have been in vogue for some time. This is what emerges from the “camping report” of Campeggi.com by Koobcamp, the leading portal in Italy for campsites and holiday villages, released today and cited by the Dire agency, which also confirms the growing interest in open air tourism.

Thanks to the increasingly mild temperatures, in fact, there was an increase in the first quarter of 2024 of 28% in terms of searches for the summer season, compared to the same period of 2023. According to the data collected by Campeggi.com, Puglia leads the ranking with 30% of total searches by Italians, followed by Tuscany with 28% and Sardinia, with 25%. The ranking confirms the podium for 2023.

Liguria is making a comeback compared to last year, rising from tenth place to fourth, and Marche, moving up two positions to fifth. Followed by Abruzzo, Sicily, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and Calabria, new entries in the 2024 ranking.

According to the report, it is mainly Italians who choose open air holidays (59%), but there is no shortage of foreign tourists who come to Italy to spend a few days of relaxation amidst the natural beauty of the country. In the lead are the Germans (16%), who prove to be among the main admirers of the Bel Paese for the second consecutive year, followed by the French (6%) and the Dutch (5%).

Another constant emerges from the report: Veneto, with 36% of preferences, confirms itself as the favorite destination for foreigners this year too. Followed by Lombardy, which gains a position compared to last year by climbing onto the podium, and Trentino-Alto Adige, both with 30%, thus completing the top of the ranking featuring the three regions bordered by Lake Garda, which has always been a appreciated by travelers who are passionate about open air tourism and who come from across the border. Completing the ranking are Liguria, Tuscany, Sicily, Emilia-Romagna, Piedmont, Calabria and Campania.
