Syracuse Officer Killed Was Former Rome Resident; Names of Slain Law Enforcement Officers Released | Crime

UTICA, NY — The Syracuse Police officer killed in the line of duty on Sunday night was a former resident of Rome.

That’s according to City of Rome Police Department Chief Kevin James.

James said that the Syracuse officer who was killed “was a Rome resident before he became a Syracuse Police officer.”

According to a press conference at 4 pm, the Syracuse officer killed was Mike Jensen. He worked on the Syracuse force for two years.

James said this of the Onondaga Sheriff’s deputy who was also killed Sunday near Syracuse. “We know that some of our officers went to the academy with the Onondaga County sheriff.”

According to the press conference, the Onondaga Sheriff’s deputy killed was Lt. Michael Hoosock. He joined the Sheriff’s Office in 2007 and leaves behind a wife and three young children.
