The new expansion tanks are ready, the last inspection today

An inspection, today at 10am, will close the construction works of the expansion tanks on the San Sebastiano and Cannetacci ditches, in the catchment area of the Esino river, both falling within the Falconara area. It was organized by the Marche Reclamation Consortium, in the presence of the regional councilor for soil protection, Stefano Aguzzi, of the mayors Stefania Signorini (Falconara) and Davide Fiorini (Camerata Picena), while the presence of the mayor of Ancona, Daniele Silvetti. The interventions, in recent months, had been implemented by the Consortium thanks to regional funding for the mitigation of hydrogeological risk in the Falconara area. And according to forecasts, the two works will contribute to a considerable reduction in the risk of flooding in areas considered sensitive, already since the 2006 meteorological event, which sent a large part of the industrial area of Castelferretti, the neighborhoods of Villanova and Fiumesino and some infrastructures such as the nearby airport. The expansion tanks, as planned, should be able to store significant volumes of liquids in such a way that, once the flood wave has passed, they will be able to return them subsequently and gradually, avoiding serious damage to the territories crossed by the waterways. Furthermore, materials were used that are perfectly capable of integrating with the morphology of the territory. In compliance with the November 2023 forecast, the works were completed in the first half of 2024 and with today’s appointment they will be delivered to the city. The technicians and designers who worked with the Marche Reclamation Consortium and the Region will also be present.
