Discovering the Alfieri bell tower with Fai Novara

For the first time with the FAI on 21 and 28 April it will be possible to climb this extraordinary building and appreciate the Dome of San Gaudenzio from another perspective.

Alfieri bell tower

Created by Benedetto Alfieri, this bell tower was built to become the tower of Novara, a symbol for the city throughout the eighteenth century. Its structure, inspired by Viennese models, is 92 meters high, making the building still today one of the tallest bell towers in Italy, whose average is between 50 and 60 metres.

From this architectural jewel – usually inaccessible to the public – it is possible to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view and see the Dome of San Gaudenzio from another point of view. The bell tower will be open to visitors on a very exceptional basis on Sunday 21 April and Sunday 28 April, thanks to visiting shifts every half hour starting from 2.00 pm.

To participate in the climb to the bell tower (booking for which is strongly recommended), the suggested minimum contribution is 15 euros, while for FAI members it is 10 euros: the entire proceeds will be donated to the Italian Environment Fund.
