Marco Gallo represents Agrigento at the States General of Cinema

Over the past weekend, the States General of Cinema in Sicily took place, an event organized by the Sicily Region and strongly supported by the President of the Region Renato Schifani and the Councilor for Tourism Elvira Amata with an extraordinary setting like that of the Maniace Castle in Ortigia. Three days, from 13 to 15 April, where various panels and technical tables took place for discussion between productions, distributions, professionals and organizers of Sicilian film festivals with some moments of entertainment such as the concert in the square by Oscar winner Nicola Piovani , composer of the film “Life is Beautiful”. Representing Agrigento was the Agrigento videomaker Marco Gallo, artistic director of the Sicilymovie – Agrigento Film Festival, now in its ninth edition and which has been taking place at the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento for 4 years. Marco Gallo is also regional councilor of the Coordination of Sicilian Film Festivals, protagonists of the event with some technical tables and a presentation of the Festivals during a conference on the closing day. The director from Agrigento himself moderated the technical table between mayors and councilors of many Sicilian municipalities who, together with the other Festivals, contributed to supporting the events of their city.
During the conference, however, he conducted a report on Agrigento Italian Capital of Culture 2025 and launched the invitation for the 26 Film Festivals of the Coordination for an event that will welcome them all to Agrigento, applying as Sicilian Capital of Cinema. Also present on stage was Alessandro Rais, artistic director of Efebo D’Oro, a historic festival born in Agrigento and Marco Gallo announced the twinning between the two festivals with the hope of bringing back, even for just one day of the event, the Efebo in Agrigento. The director then writes on social media: “It was an honor for me to represent Agrigento in such an important event and to be able to talk not only about my Festival but about the capital of culture as an inclusive and welcoming city, in this case towards all other Festivals in Sicily and I am even happier to create a twinning with the Efebo D’oro, we will work in the next few weeks to make it official and have the aim of bringing it back, even for just one day, to Agrigento. For us festivals it was also important to be able to create a film festival calendar that covers 150 days and a large part of the Sicilian territory.”
