Center-left civics versus center-right civics. For the first time since it began, the electoral campaign that will lead to the vote of the8 and 9 June for the Regionals abandon the soporific tones of recent weeks and try to get to the heart of the controversy. In the aftermath of the formalization of the operation with which the outgoing president Alberto Cirio attempts to broaden the boundaries of its coalition to the center, thanks to the agreement between Forza Italia and theUdc but above all to his civic list in which it lines up leading personalities from the Piedmontese health and local administrations, the centre-left civics – those collected in the list «Sober president» by the founder of «Monviso» Mario Giaccone and of Francesco Tresso — they go on the attack.
The front is twofold. On the one hand there is the attempt to mark the governor’s list, in turn deploying a handful of doctors, nurses and pharmacists. «A third of our candidates come from the world of healthcare – underlines Giaccone -, and we are not talking about directors, head doctors, etc., but about committed people who see the healthcare sector as the place in which to make their contribution to society». On the other hand there is the actual attack on the civic identity that characterizes the two opposing lists, that of Cirio and that of Pentenero. «Cirio is trying to recover the center electorate, trying to convey the idea that he is a moderate group. But I wouldn’t define it Vignale (Gianluca, former MSI and former AN, current head of the governor’s cabinet, ed.) a moderate from the center…”, argues Giaccone, who yesterday morning, at the Murazzi, presented together with the exponents of Turin Tomorrow Giorgio Giardina And Isabella Brianza the «Pentenero Presidente» list.
In short, for the centre-left civics, the presence of former politicians, such as Vignale but also as the former PDL and exponent of the Moderates Silvio Magliano, making Cirio’s list a civic list so to speak. «More than representing the civic world, it represents old interests of politics and the professions», accuses Giaccone, who says he is sure of the fact that «the Piedmontese will not be fooled: behind Cirio there is a real right, that of the Marrones and the Rich, which in recent years the president has not managed to moderate at all.”
Yet the governor hopes for a result that will allow him to free himself from the grip of FdI and Lega, so as to become the point of balance of the coalition. The goal would be reached if the civic list and Forza Italia should exceed 15%. It is no coincidence that Forza Italia’s number one in Piedmont Paolo Zangrillo he hoped, the day before yesterday, “for a double-digit result”. To overtake the League, establishing itself as the second force of the center-right after the Brothers of Italy. But also to ensure that Cirio has the widest possible “moderate, liberal and pragmatic” field, which allows him not to be too unbalanced to the right in view of the second mandate at “Palazzo Piemonte”.
