THE STORY

The first attack dates back to 7 September last when the foreigner, after having entered the “Marconi” school, forced open the vending machines and took possession of the snacks, then to ensure his escape he struck the student with a pair of scissors. owner of the company providing the service, injuring him and causing injuries judged to be healable in 5 days.

A few days later, on the morning of September 19th, he entered the “Giorgione” tavern in via Pastrengo: here he threatened the owner’s mother and had the 600 euros that were in the cash register handed over to him. , another 300 euros contained inside a jar and then escaped on a bicycle, losing track of himself. But this time his escape had lasted just a couple of days. His arrest was achieved through the analysis of the images recorded by some video surveillance cameras in the areas affected by the robberies as well as thanks to the recognitions made by the victims of the two attacks. So the 25-year-old, homeless and with a series of criminal records behind him, was tracked down by the police in an apartment building in via Helsinki, where he had set up a makeshift shelter. According to investigators, the 25-year-old could also be responsible for some other thefts committed against other businesses in the Pontine capital in the same period but so far there has been no useful evidence to attribute them to the accused.

In recent days, during the preliminary hearing, the defense requested and obtained that Elhag Hosny Ibrahim Ali Yahya, still detained, be judged in an abbreviated manner in order to benefit from a discount of one third of the sentence. The preliminary hearing judge Clara Trapuzzano accepted the request and the discussion began. The public prosecutor Andrea D’Angeli, at the end of his indictment, asked for an eight-year prison sentence also in light of the defendant’s precedents and the “serial nature” of the crimes committed. At the end of the session, the judge reduced the sentence, sentencing him to six and a half years in prison.
