Verona, 15 April 2024 – He slips into the water while walking on banks of the Adige and it remains trapped in the mud for hours. She was in a clear state of hypothermia due to the long stay in the water the man was saved on Sunday night in Verona. The victim – a 38 year old from Verona – fell into the river in the section that runs close to the Bosco Buri Park. The man was taken to safety by police officers: that’s it what happened and how they managed to save him.
The rescue of the man in the Adige
According to an initial reconstruction of the facts, the thirty-eight year old was accidentally killed slipped into the river while he was with a friend. The two were walking on the bank adjacent to Buri Woods when the man lost his balance and slipped into the water.
Having fallen into a muddy area, the man found himself trapped in the mud. Impossible for him to get out of the water, also because in that stretch there current it was very strong. The friend tried to save him for a long time, but without success.
Half an hour after the accident, the alarm went off. The incident was reported to the police mother of the thirty-eight year oldnotified shortly after midnight by the friend who had witnessed the scene and who, despite repeated attempts, had failed to drag the victim to shore.
When the Flying policemen reached the river bank, they immediately sensed the danger that the man – by now pale in the face, shaken come on chills and in confusional state – he was running. They thus decided, in a few seconds, the strategy to be adopted to prevent the thirty-eight year old from coming due to obvious physical tiredness dragged away from the current.
Using the uniform belt as a rope, the two Flying Squad operators managed to keep the thirty-eight year old near the river bank until the firefighters arrived, with whose help they finally managed to extracted from water and saved.
“Another example of professionalism and a high sense of duty: qualities which, in this circumstance, made it possible to save a life”, say the Verona police.
