4 million from Lombardy to promote active aging – News

The resources made available by the Lombardy Region to encourage and promote active aging amount to 4 million euros. The resolution approved by the regional council intends to start the creation of an integrated system of territorial intervention capable of enhancing the role of elderly people and combating isolation with the involvement of all stakeholders present in the territories.

“We are working – declared the councilor for Family and Disability Elena Lucchini – for a pact between generations that considers elderly people as the protagonists of our welfare. For the Lombardy Region, measures and investments to support longevity are central”.

This is “the first provision, which has as its main objective the experimentation of advanced and innovative service models capable of building a vision of development of active aging policies within the framework of an exchange pact between elderly and young people (transgenerational pact)” .

There will be three areas of intervention, that of socialization and social inclusion; the area of autonomy and well-being and participation and active citizenship.

Among the objectives is to create social infrastructures that can remain over time and that promote a positive and aware culture of care and health in longevity but also to generate new and lasting alliances for the territories capable of keeping together the needs of both the elderly that of young people, valorising the experiences and skills of each one and combating isolation “according to a preventive and non-reparative logic”.
