Four people were hospitalized in serious condition

A fire it exploded this morning in an apartment building in via Val Saisera, a Udine. Fifteen people were intoxicated due to smoke inhalation. Four of them were hospitalized, one in serious condition. A 73-year-old is in danger of dying. According to what we learn the gentleman was in the cellar room to do some work when the fire started and smoke invaded the building. Accidental flames would have started from the use of power tools. The 73-year-old, born in Pordenone but resident in Udine, was intubated on the spot and taken to the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital. 3 other residents were also rescued by 118 and required treatment in hospital. The complex is owned by Ater and has been declared unusable: the damage has yet to be quantified.
The firefighters operated with various means. The flames were put out before they spread to other apartments in the condominium. Carabinieri and police were also on site.
