MILAN (ITALPRESS) – The prospects for the Easter weekend in Lombardy are good, despite the uncertain weather. The presence in the mountains is very strong, confirming the data emerging from the national Confcommercio survey in the region: among the Italians who will move within the national borders, at least 15% will choose the mountains. Thanks to the heavy snowfall, attendance will be particularly good in the Bergamo and Brescia mountains and in the province of Sondrio, where a +28% attendance is estimated compared to 2023 and with bookings for the April 25th long weekend at +48%. Photography that confirms a very positive ski season which marked increases compared to the previous one. The prospects are also good for the lakes: sold out on Lake Como and positive attendance on the Lecco branch – which has a growth prospect for the 25th April long weekend of between 3 and 5% compared to last year – on Garda and the Varese lakes. Here, also thanks to the boost from nautical tourism, hotels have a number of rooms occupied in line with Easter 2023 and campsites are recording 70% bookings.

Numbers that will increase during the month of April, with the peak during the Liberation Day, with the forecast of excellent results for hotels throughout the province and occupancy rates in campsites above 90%. Even for Easter 2024 the cities continue to have appeal for visitors. A 3% increase in arrivals is expected in Milan (estimates from the Confcommercio Milan, Lodi, Monza and Brianza research office) and excellent attendance is expected in Bergamo, also driven by foreign tourists, especially Polish, German and French, but also non-EU tourists, especially Japanese and Americans. In Cremona, 50% of hotel rooms are occupied, in line with last year. A slight decline in Mantua, mainly due to the weather, while Brescia experiences an adjustment, still remaining at +10% compared to 2019, after 2023, the year in which it was the Capital of Culture together with Bergamo, with record numbers: second place in the region for number of overnight stays (13.1 million) and third for foreign arrivals (70% of the total). Reservations in restaurants for Easter and Easter Monday, except for slight declines in some areas, mark a positive trend. If they remain stable in Milan and Brescia, they grow in cities like Cremona and especially Bergamo, where there is an increase of 17% compared to 2023. It is also interesting to note the spread of takeaways, very evident in the province of Varese, with a + 20% compared to a mirror reduction in restaurant reservations. Satisfactory sales for Easter doves, with a forecast of numerous purchases under the date, dictated above all by the desire for a very fresh product. “The numbers confirm the attractiveness of Lombardy, where tourism is now an economic driver – declares the deputy vice-president of Confcommercio Lombardia Carlo Massoletti – To further consolidate this trend it is necessary to insist on the quality of the offer, from accommodation facilities to high level of services offered, which must also be pursued by far-sighted political choices”. “Tourism – continues Massoletti – needs connections: both physical, capable of quickly and efficiently connecting the different territories, and digital, important for businesses and tourists”.(ITALPRESS).Photo: trl trl/com 29- Tue-24 1.37pm .
