PISA. University mourns the death of the professor Dianora Poletti. “Her passing has aroused the sincere condolences of those who had the opportunity to know and appreciate her, as a colleague and as a person”, they write from the University in a note.

The path to the University

Poletti graduated with honors from the Faculty of Law of the University of Pisa in 1981 and continued her studies as a student of the first cycle of PhD in Private Law activated in Italian universities, obtaining the title of PhD in 1987, led by Ugo Natoli and Lina Bigliazzi Geri. She then spent her entire academic career at the University of Pisa, first as a researcher, then as an associate professor and, since 2004, as a full professor at the Faculty of Economics. In 2012 she moved to the Department of Law, where she held this position until 2022, the year in which, for outstanding merits, she was appointed by the Superior Council of the Judiciary, by decree of the President of the Republic, as advisor to the Supreme Court, first professor of the Pisan University to be called in this capacity.

Institutional positions

Throughout his career, he has made a constant and intense commitment to serving the University. Among the numerous institutional roles, which saw her as dean of the Faculty of Economics from 2010 to 2012 and member of the Academic Senate and of the University Teaching Commission, the role of president of the Quality Committee from 2013 to 2019 stands out: in this capacity she carried out, with great commitment and competence, the necessary preparatory activities for the Anvur visit. His skills were appreciated by the Ministry of Education, which appointed her as an expert evaluator and included her in the national short list of 15 Anvur teachers for the selection of the Board of Directors. Finally, her activity as coordinator of the working group for the drafting of the 2018-2020 strategic plan was of great importance for the life of the University. For this commitment to serving the University you were awarded the Order of the Cherubim on March 27th.

For the Department of Law she was, among other things, president of the Detect (Interdepartmental Research Center in Law and Frontier Technologies), director of the Master in Internet Ecosystem, coordinator of the PhD in Legal Sciences.

His contributions

Known in the academy as an expert in civil liability, her first contributions on the subject of biological damage caused by accidents at work and road accidents (converged in the 1996 monograph Damages to the person in ‘accidents’ at work and by car and conducted in synergy with forensic medicine) have provided a significant contribution to the legislative reform of the Inail settlement tables implemented in 2000 (a reform to which it actively contributed), as well as to the adoption of the settlement tables of micro-permanent impairments from road liability.

Added to these are the studies on the subject of real estate circulation (subject of the second monograph of 2003 Conflict resolution rules and compensation protection), from which the subsequent essays dedicated to the new methods of access to residential ownership arose, especially by vulnerable subjects .

Finally, numerous contributions were dedicated to the relationship between law and technology, extended to personal data, digitalisation and artificial intelligence, contributions which were the subject of significant conference initiatives.
