holidays and short-term rentals in New Sardinia
Descriptive text here

Olbia Gallura excels in the “Short-term rental” sector, the short-term rentals. This is demonstrated for the first time by the study carried out by Communication and the UniOlbia Study Center: data from the main centers of interest in Sardinia (but also in Italy and the Côte d’Azur) were collected with the help of AirDNAthe platform that provides comprehensive performance insights from more than 10 million vacation rental properties in more than 120,000 global markets by collecting data primarily from Airbnb and Vrbo.

The analysis «UniOlbia – we read in the report – has drawn up rankings on the basis of the data collected and has analyzed and compared the market trends of the holiday rentals in 2023 compared to 2022, providing a broad and detailed vision of the average revenues of the various structures present in the area. If on the one hand it is understood that the holiday rental market is significant in terms of turnover for the island, on the other UniOlbia wants to raise awareness among the community of the difficulty for students in finding accommodation in the Gallura city”. Precisely for this reason the UniOlbia Consortium, thanks to Cipnes Gallura, has made accommodation available at Geovillage which will become, to all intents and purposes, the University Campus of the city of Olbia: at this moment there are already about ten students who have arrived from other locations, but there is room for another forty.

The North East ranking Based on an average of 2023 annual revenues for short-term rentals, Olbia it ranks sixth in the ranking with a revenue of 37.4 thousand euros (-24% compared to 2022). In first place is Arzachena (which also includes the entire Costa Smeralda market) with a revenue of 59 thousand euros in 2023 alone (-17% compared to 2022). Following Saint Theodore with an average revenue of 49.5 thousand euros (+7% compared to 2022), therefore Aglientu with a revenue of 42.4 thousand euros (-6% compared to 2022) and then Palau with 40.3 thousand euros in revenues (+15% compared to 2022). In fifth position there is a tie between Figari (Golfo Aranci) And Loiri Porto San Paolo with a revenue of 37.4 thousand euros in 2023. Immediately after Olbia (which also includes the market Porto Rotondo). Seventh place forTrinity of Agultu (including Vignola) with a revenue of 33.9 thousand euros in 2023 (-17% compared to 2022). Budoni is eighth with 30.3 thousand euros in revenues (+4% compared to 2022), followed by Saint Teresa with a revenue of 29.7 thousand euros in 2023 (-10% compared to 2022). Tithe La Maddalenwhich in 2023 recorded an average revenue of 26.7 thousand euros (-19% compared to 2022).

The trend The market ofAirbnb is destined to grow further, as it is considered a very valid alternative to staying in a hotel. «But there is a flip side of the coin that UniOlbia wants to emphasize with this study – continues the report -. The increase in this type of market is making it increasingly difficult to find accommodation to rent all year round, especially for off-site students who want to attend the University in Olbia. Hence the commitment of the UniOlbia Consortium, together with Cipnes And Common to provide accommodation at the Geovillage”.
