The checks of the heating systems carried out by Arpa Piemonte in 2023, the number of which is constantly growing with an increase of approximately 13% compared to the previous year, confirm the presence of critical issues on the sample selected for the inspections. Some of which also in the southern belt.

The selection of the systems to be checked was carried out favoring those equipped with older generators and thermal power (above 100 kW), characteristics that can determine a greater environmental impact of emissions.

Overall, regulatory violations subject to sanctions were found in 16% of the checks carried out. The majority of violations, equal to approximately 49% of cases, are due to non-compliance with the minimum performance values ​​of the system, while in approximately 32% of cases it was found that the NOx limit (carbon oxides) was exceeded. nitrogen). The remaining 19% of cases involved violations relating to energy efficiency regulations, such as failure to maintain the system or failure to install thermoregulation and metering systems.

19% of the total checked also highlighted deficiencies relating to safety regulations. These shortcomings have been reported to the competent bodies, including INAIL or the Fire Brigade.
