Excellence. With Puteolana it is the victory of illusion. Real Forio, salvation comes through the playout

No smile, no celebration. Everything is postponed. Real Forio redeems the defeat of Pomigliano and returns to victory in the championship, beating Puteolana, who landed on the island for the last match of the regular season. At the final whistle, however, Calise was disappointed. Sanchez’s team is the protagonist of a good performance, made up of two goals and great application. Ruining the Turks’ Saturday afternoon are the verdicts that mature on the mainland: Quarto Afrograd beat Pompeii at home at the end, Mariglianese prevailed on the Albanova pitch.

With their fate depending on their opponents, Sogliuzzo and his teammates cannot rejoice and must postpone the race towards the goal of salvation. The thirty-four points achieved, at the end of a complicated season and with many breaks in terms of continuity, are not useful for maintaining the category. The shadow of the playout materializes and now the direct match against Pomigliano will represent the last resort to end the difficult sporting year in the best possible way. In the friendly fort, as mentioned, Forio played a match made up of great aggression and notable conviction. And just under twenty minutes were enough for the local troops to break the deadlock, first with a surgical volley from Filosa, then with a winning header from Arrulo. Amato’s boys can also score a trio, but the visiting defense works well and the Granata goalkeeper opposes the home team’s attempts. In the second half, thanks to the heat and tiredness, the green and whites lowered their range of action and the Flegrei raised their center of gravity, reaching the conclusion more than once. In the final Sanguineti reopens the contest, Calise awaits comforting news from the other fields but at the final whistle there is the answer: it will be a play-off against Pomigliano.

THE RACE

Real Forio beats Puteolana at Calise and returns to victory in the championship, but it’s not enough: the goal of salvation for Carlo Sanchez’s team will go through the playout. The green and whites put on a convincing performance, but there is no comforting news coming from the mainland and therefore maintaining the category will depend on the play-off against Pomigliano. The Turks line up with a renewed defense, considering the absence of the suspended Pistola. On the left is Accurso, with Tomasin winning the runoff with D’Alessandro on the right. In front of Iandoli there are Cabrera and Boussaada, in midfield we see Arcamone again next to Sogliuzzo and Arrulo. Di Meglio completes the battery, Filosa supports Acosta forward. Ready, go and immediately a risk for the outgoing Phlegraeans. In the 4th minute the home team made their first attempt towards goal: Tomasin struck from the right, Di Meglio headed the ball and Russo blocked. A few seconds pass and there is another pass from the wing, Acosta is hindered by Battaglia and fails to worry the goalkeeper.

In the 9th minute Filosa triggers Sogliuzzo who, from the left-handed chain, passes to Arrulo: the midfielder shoots with first intention, Russo blocks again and Acosta misses the tap-in. Puteolana tries to sting in the 11th minute, but Cabrera keeps good guard. Real Forio immediately reverses the action and goes back into attack with a conclusion from Sogliuzzo from the edge of the area. In the 14th minute the result was broken, the green and white team went to the net: recovering the ball in mid-field, Arcamone suggested for Filosa who made a wonderful volley and went past the goalkeeper. Sanchez’s boys only needed four turns of the clock to double their lead. On the development of a corner from Filosa, Arrulo soars higher than anyone and sends it past Russo. The team coached by Turco tries to shake things off with a timid right-foot shot from Guglielmo, the trajectory gets lost on the bottom.

In the 21st minute Acosta invents for Filosa who targets an opponent and converges towards the center, the control becomes a pass for Sogliuzzo who kicks without thinking twice and the guest number 77 pushes away with his foot. The Phlegraeans make the islanders tremble with the blasts of the Larynx in the middle of the half and in the 28th minute Iandoli has to perform a miracle after taking a corner. The first half ends with Filosa’s injury, Vincenzi taking his place, and with the flashes of Palumbo (39′) and Larynge (41′). Upon returning to the field for the second half, Forio relies on Iacono and D’Alessandro: the rearguard has been redesigned, Boussaada and Tomasin leave the pitch. Good approach for the green and whites, the red devils respond with a gore from Palumbo which doesn’t worry Iandoli. In the 56th minute another thrill for Sanchez’s defensive department who decides to make another change on the board with Pelliccia who makes Arcamone catch his breath. In the 61st minute Guglielmo collects and returns on the left foot, his shot ends up far from the target defended by Iandoli.

Three minutes later Massa hides the ball from Vincenzi and shoots with his right foot, the ball goes wide. Same outcome for Sanguineti (66′), protagonist from twenty-five metres. New risk for the Turks in the 68th minute, on Massa’s second initiative from an excellent position: the parable doesn’t go very far from the top corner. In the 72nd minute, a bad disengagement by Cabrera, Sanguineti charges the shot and calls into question the local goalkeeper, who did well to spread himself and save. Forio is crushed too much and Puteolana returns to the Iandoli area with a shot from Pontillo, just wide. Five minutes from the Flegrei’s ninetieth point, Amato’s team saves itself at the last minute. In the final there was also space for the young King. The guests shortened with Sanguineti, but the blow for Forio came from the mainland with the victories of the Quarto Afrograd (3-2 at the end against the Bellucci in Pompeii) and of the Mariglianese (2-1 against ‘Albanova): the playout doors will open wide for Sanchez’s boys, their opponent will be Pomigliano and salvation will therefore come through the play-off.
