The Park is expanding | Sempione News

In the PGT Legnano proposes to add 195 hectares of its territory to the Alto Milanese Park

Legnano – The PGT, in Legnano, causes discussion. This is nothing new, and to be honest it is nothing new (the council had already proposed it Hundred) not even one of the elements of the PGT which least causes discussion about the city council, that is proposal to expand the Alto Milanese Park in the Legnano area. Well 195 hectaresalmost two million square meters south of via Novara, would be the land that would become part of the PAM from the new Territorial Government Plans: an area that would go from the new hospital to Sp 12.

Will users of the park soon be able to enjoy new paths along which to walk and new natural beauties to admire? The answer, at the moment, is “Perhaps“.

Before finalizing anything, in fact, Legnano will have to reach an agreement with the administrations of Busto Arsizio and Castellanzawith which it manages the park through the Consortium of the Alto Milanese park but if (and it’s a big if) the plan goes through, the situation for nature lovers could only improve.

The President of the WFP is convinced of this, Davide TurriThose lands – which are mainly private, forestry and agricultural, and would remain so even if they passed under the PAM – they would be valorised first and foremost as a consolidation of the ecological corridoror even in view of the connection with the nearby Roggie Park (another park just over a kilometer away!), as well as the care and maintenance of the paths, the dirt roads, the creation of signage with the precise objective of enhancing and increasing the use, as well as the management of the territory with checks and removal of any waste“.

The latter is a battle that the WFP leadership has taken particularly to heart and which is being fought through the installation of more and more cameras (currently there are 23) and always careful surveillance by the three local police forces and the volunteers of the Civil protection Alberto da Giussano, with which an agreement is in place. All these, in addition to making any “trash dealers” stop and be caught, also help to keep drug dealers away from the park. A widespread control system made possible, underlines Turri, by particular modality with which the WFP is managed: “The structure we have, as a consortium, has different characteristics, its own budget, an operational and management structure with its own staff, which would allow us with due precautions to cover an even larger territory than the one we have: we have the potential to do so“.

Total availability on the part of the Alto Milanese Park therefore, but the final decision lies with politicians who, to tell the truth, on the issue of the park’s enlargement it has never proven to be very dynamic. Thanks to the fact that, within the consortium, everything must be balanced and Legnano cannot, therefore, almost unilaterally double the amount of WFP land that its municipality hosts. In fact, the City of Carroccio currently has around 180 hectares of PAM on its territory, Busto Arsizio has 126 and Castellanza 53. Among the complications is also the question of contributions. By increasing its “square footage”, Palazzo Malinverni would end up with also increasing the budget to be dedicated to the park.

In short, the situation is evolving, but for now the ball remains in the court of the local administrations even if they, to date, have shown little interest in modifying the boundaries of the Alto Milanese Park.
