“Inclusive and livable”. New Prg nearing approval

“The new Prg designs a more inclusive, livable city aimed at facilitating relationships”. The vice mayor and councilor for urban planning, Cristian Fanesi, announces the approval by the council, in Tuesday’s session, of the new Prg, enriched by the municipal administration’s counterarguments to the 274 observations presented by citizens. Time, however, is running out for the convocation of the city council (we are talking about Thursday 4 April, certainly no later than 8 or 9 April) which will have to adopt it definitively. The municipal administration, in fact, enters into ordinary administration, with the suspension of council activity, approximately 60 days before the date of the municipal elections of 8-9 June. Very tight deadlines, but the mayor Massimo Seri has no doubts: “The political objective of closing the process of the general master plan has been achieved, even if we have arrived in the ‘Cesarini area'”.

After definitive adoption, the Prg will be sent to the Province which, within 180 days, will have to express its opinion of conformity, at which point the document will return to the city council for final approval, once the new administration has taken office. “The limited number of observations – Fanesi points out – testifies to the collaboration that existed between the municipal administration and the citizens. Of the 274 observations, 55% and 39% were accepted, totally or partially. were not considered acceptable, 6% were duplicates, not assessable or simple requests for clarification”. Fanesi compares the 274 observations of today’s Prg with the 1066 of the previous Master Plan (2006-2009): “Confirming the sharing of choices by citizens. Among other things, this time it was easier to present the observations (also via email) and there were no costs to bear (no stamp duty to pay)”. “A Prg – reiterated Fanesi – which is characterized by the reduction of land consumption”. The data speaks of -30% commercial, -25% residential, -53% productive. The requests, accepted by the municipal administration, to return the building land to agricultural land go in this direction even if this will lead to a decrease in the revenue linked to the IMU for the Municipality.

“The new Prg will be a solid guide – commented Fanesi – for the urban development of Fano and for the city to be the best place to live”. For Fanesi “what characterizes the Prg are the community hubs in each neighbourhood, that is, spaces and places of sociality, thanks to which each community can find itself. Our idea of the city is polycentric and capable of connecting with citizens in a sustainable way. “.
