PALERMO – Extraordinary maintenance work has begun for the relocation of 637 public lighting poles, supports that had been decommissioned because they no longer met the stability and safety requirements. The first support will be placed this afternoon, at 6pm, in via dell’Airone, near the parish of Santa Caterina da Siena, in the presence of the councilor for public works of the municipality, Salvatore Orlando, and the president of AMG Energia Francesco Scoma .

The authorization that allows AMG Energia to carry out the extensive extraordinary maintenance intervention bears the signature of councilor Orlando, together with the manager of the Public Lighting and Technological Systems Office, Roberto Cairone. The amount assigned to the investee company is 542,300 euros plus VAT, sums deriving from the November 2023 budget adjustment which, with a resolution last December, the municipal council and the municipal council decided to assign to extraordinary maintenance interventions on the systems of public lighting.

In recent years, AMG Energia operators, during the constant maintenance activities carried out on the lighting systems, have removed, throughout the city, to protect public safety, around a thousand public lighting supports: dated poles, which no longer had the necessary stability and safety requirements. The wide-ranging intervention embraces various areas of the city, from Corso Calatafimi to Via Palmerino, from the area of Via Noce to Via Placido Rizzotto, from Via Del Granatiere to Via Altofonte, Corso Tukory, Via Perpignano, just to name a few. someone. The company’s goal is to complete the work within the year.

“An important intervention awaited by citizens is underway – underlines the councilor for public works, Salvatore Orlando –. The trend is reversed: compared to the small spot works of recent years which involved the restoration of a limited number of poles, AMG Energia will be able to carry out a massive and wide-ranging activity. Furthermore, the chapter of extraordinary maintenance dedicated to public lighting, which for too long has been characterized by the elimination of resources, is once again being fueled”.

The map created by AMG Energia will be published on the Municipality’s website and on that of AMG Energia with the exact location of the poles to be relocated. “In a transparent way, citizens will be able to verify which sites are affected by the extraordinary intervention”, concludes councilor Orlando. “The company starts again with a necessary activity to restore lighting and safety especially in those streets of the city which have been heavily affected by the decommissioning of numerous old poles – adds the president of AMG Energia Francesco Scoma -. It is an excellent result, the result of the synergy and constant dialogue with the mayor Lagalla, the councilor Orlando and the municipal technical offices”.

Reconditioned poles will be installed, i.e. subjected to an accurate and comprehensive overhaul in the AMG Energia workshops, with the elimination of corrosion phenomena and the use of a new sheath, in order to guarantee full safety. The intervention will proceed on a parallel track that combines efficiency and safety: the works will be carried out on public lighting cabins to which the poles to be relocated belong and, as requested by the Municipality, priority will be given to the areas in which the lighting conditions are particularly compromised due to the decommissioning of almost all light points.
