Scheduled from Sunday 5 May to Sunday 12 May in Bitonto, www.Shakespeare – Week with William Shakespeare, festival conceived and directed by the Compagnia Fatti d’Arte winner of the public notice ‘Bitonto city of festivals 2023’ – Festival Network promoted by Municipality of Bitonto. Now in its tenth edition, the event will involve the entire citizenry in a true full immersion in the name of the English playwright in an event that combines live entertainment with public education and is made up of performances and multidisciplinary actions. The venues of the festival will range from the ancient center to the Laboratorio Urbano Officine Culturali, up to the Teatro Traetta which will host the laboratory results Shakespearean Visions of Gesture and Word and the productions of the Fatti d’Arte Company Willy’s and Vagina’s Monologue and Shake Your Booty with Antonio Stornaiolo.

We will start on Sunday 5 May (10.30 am) in the ancient center with Back to the Cinema, an exploratory walk among the ancient cinemas of Bitonto with the collaboration of the Meo-Romeo Cultural Association and U-LAB APS. The following day, Monday 6 May at 7.00 pm, in the spaces of the Laboratorio Urbano Officine Culturali we will continue with Shakespeare’s Human Library, an event included in the Galattica project, a ‘human’ library, which replaces the loan of books with the story of experienced, this year’s theme is ‘Work and young people’. Those who animate the Human Libraries have experienced prejudice, social exclusion, experiences similar to the characters born from the Bard’s pen. Also at the Officine Culturali, from 6 to 10 May (double shift at 7.00pm and 8.30pm) Fatti d’Arte opens the doors to a Shakespearean Escape Room in which spectators will be involved in a game to discover a themed mystery Shakespearean.

On Wednesday 8 May (8.00 pm), the Traetta Theater will host Shakespearian Visions of the gesture, the outcome of the workshop curated by Ezio Schiavulli and Sara Mitola of the Puglia International Dance Network and Shakespearian Visions of the word, the outcome of the workshop curated by the Compagnia Fatti d’ Art. Also at the Traetta, two Fatti d’Arte productions will be staged in the last three days of the festival. On 10 and 11 May at 9.00 pm it will be the turn of Willy’s and Vagina’s Monologues, a show that experiments with a connection between the sensitivity of Shakespearean heroines and the stories of the famous text by the American author Eve Ensler – The Vagina Monologues –, bringing to the stage and defusing preconceptions linked to the theme of pain, anger and violence. While on Sunday 12 May (6.00 pm) closing entrusted to Shake Your Booty with Antonio Stornaioloin which the music and sound of the Seventies will be the pretext to tell – with irony – the troubled life of the most famous playwright in the world.
