In the revision of the Puc of Savona there will also be a variant that concerns the civic market and specifically the part on the top floor, where there is the terrace and the former home of the caretaker, and on the ground floor, where the fishmongers were located.
In 2018, the previous municipal council had delimited the area that is home to the Civic Market in the building in via Giuria and had de-owned the remaining surface to insert, for that part, new uses that were compatible with the context and complementary to the civic market, such as crafts and public businesses linked to the food supply chain, leasing the de-owned parts to any interested private individuals.
But the expressions of interest went unanswered. For the premises concerned, the Caprioglio Council had then envisaged temporary use (7 years plus 4) intended for activities such as crafts, public administration establishments, and personal and business service functions. Those spaces, however, have been disused for some time and require significant investments to be redeveloped.
Hence the decision of the Russo administration to include among the changes to be made within the variant to the Puc, entrusted to an external company, also the provision for the removal of the restriction on services placed by the previous council, to aim for concessions of longer duration long, in order to make the empty spaces of the Civic Market more attractive and thus attract new investors, with a view to redeveloping the entire structure.
