«I helped him become who he is, but he wasn’t grateful»

Mara Maionchiguest of the last episode of the season of Beastssend a dig at Tiziano Ferro. Francesca Fagnaniduring the interview which will be broadcast on April 30th on Rai2, he asked the record producer if anyone “didn’t understand that meeting her was lucky.” A question to which Maionchi initially tries to respond diplomatically: “I don’t want to name names so as not to be rude, but someone didn’t understand it.” But Fagnani doesn’t agree: “Don’t get diplomatic all at once for the first time tonight.”

And so Mara Maionchi spills the beans, mentioning the name of the Latina singer: «In my opinion Tiziano Ferro didn’t really understand it. Because he didn’t think that both my husband and I helped him to be what in the end he partly is. But it’s not important, you don’t have to be grateful.”

In an old interview, the former X Factor judge said he discovered Tiziano Ferro when he was only 18 years old, closing doors in his face more than once before giving him the opportunity that allowed him to take flight: playing his songs to me and constantly being told “no, this sucks, this isn’t good”, twice a week. Going back and forth from Latina. Then when we heard Tiziano in the charts in Italy and France… it was a gift.”

There is also space to talk about a more unpublished part of Mara Maionchi’s life, namely her childhood and the conflicting relationship with her mother who didn’t even go to her wedding:«“She didn’t come because she said that weddings made her sad. Mom was strange, she wasn’t an affectionate woman, but she was very strong». Fagnani then asks: «But was it okay for you, or was there something missing?« and Maionchi confesses: «I missed something, I urged her all my life to give me affection, a hug, something… but she didn’t have it. And I understood it later. Everyone is as they are».
